New Bike Day.

It’s been a very BUSY past 4 weeks – loads of exciting new projects on the go and final details being wrapped up on the 2018 bike line.

As an early preview to the new 2018 range we launched our latest addition to the VIPA range today – the VIPA TRAIL.

It has also been really encouraging to see the market’s first reactions to the new look and styling of the bike – the level of detail and design on this new bike is truly next level for us and required a fair bit of back-and-forth with our vendors to ensure they got it right! ( I can show you the hundreds of e-mails! )

Whilst the new look is probably the first thing that most will recognise the details and design on this bike are sure to compliment our current range of VIPA models. With it’s 50% increase ( 120mm of travel up from 80mm ) in rear wheel travel whilst only going up roughly 100g ( raw, unpainted frame ) on frame weight this bike certainly blurs the lines between Marathon/Stage Race and XCO race whip! I’ve been riding mine in a sub 12kg build literally using parts from my garage I am confident that with some creative speccing we could build this bike into the 10.?kg mark without much difficulty.

As a SA based bike brand and still with 99.9% of our sales in the local market it was important that we get our timing right. The recent switch to more trail-focussed geometry and “comfort” bikes allowed us the opportunity to introduce this model just in time for some of the bigger Stage Races coming up in 2017.

It’s a cliche but ” light enough to race , comfortable enough to finish ” is something this new VIPA TRAIL will do with shining colours!

The new frame also boasts many of the newest trends and technology developments in the bike market:

  • Boost 148 Rear Wheel Spacing
  • Internal Cable Routing
  • Optional Shimano Di2 Internal Battery placement
  • Optional Front Derailleur Adaptor to build it with a  1x or 2x Drivetrain

Modern geometry tweaks like the slack-er 67.8 degree head angle and short wheelbase makes for a bike that is nimble yet stable , fast yet comfortable …

First frames arrive next week and I really am looking forward to seeing these on our local trails SOON!
